ARL (WA) developed from an initial industry need for quality organochlorine pesticide analysis in foodstuffs. The laboratory has remained at the forefront of pesticide analysis throughout its history and has applied skills and quality standards from this area to become industry leaders in many areas of organic analysis.
ARL (WA)’s scope of organic analysis includes, but is not limited to:
- Pesticides: Organochlorine and Organophosphorus Pesticides; Base Neutral Pesticides; Chlorinated Acidic Pesticides; Synthetic Pyrethroids; Formulations for “active” content; Specific Pesticides – glyphosate, paraquat, diquat, imidacloprid and various others.
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) – in samples including soil, water and transformer oil.
- Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons – includes fuel oils, lubricating oils and like materials; Aromatic / Aliphatic Splits (Landfill acceptance).
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs).
- BTEX – Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene and Xylenes.
- Volatile Organic Compounds – including perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene and various chlorination by-products.
- Semi-volatile Organic Compounds – identification by GC-MS.
- Oil and Grease.
- Plasticisers.
- Trihalomethanes and related Disinfection By-Products.
- Phenolic Compounds – Total phenols, phenol, cresols, nonyl and octyl phenols and chlorinated phenols.
- Acrylamide.
- Alcohols, formaldehyde and other aldehydes and fatty acids.
- Anionic Surfactants – Methylene blue active substances.
- Formaldehyde.
